18 miles west of Ibsley, or about 30 minutes by car, you will find historic Poole, the fishing port and World’s second largest natural harbour encompassing Brownsea Island, the National Trust owned island in the middle of Poole Harbour, home of the red Squirrel and the original birthplace for the Scout movement. Poole quay offers regular daily trips across to Brownsea Island or why not opt for a day out fishing in Poole bay.
Around 5 miles or 10 minutes south west of Thatched Eaves you will find Moors Valley Country Park & Forest, a 1,000 acre woodland park with Go Ape adventure for all the family, Treetop rope trail, miniature railway and an 18 hole pay and play golf course. Dorset’s Heavy Horse Centre is situated around 6 miles from us and as well as being a conservation centre for over 20 rare breed horses, offers lots of family based activities for a great day out for all the family.
For the more adventurous, Snowtrax Alpine Activity Centre is 7 miles south of us and offers 6 acres of Alpine Woodland incorporating ski facilities, ski-bob and ringo runs for the small ones as well as an Alpine Adventure Park with Adventure trail, zip wires and climbing frames.
